Why this theme exists

mkdocs-simple-blog is for people who want a personal blog or a small documentation site without pulling in a full framework's worth of opinions. No JavaScript build step, no config schema to memorize — just a theme name in mkdocs.yml and Markdown files.

This post itself is an example: it lives at docs/post/2026/08/welcome.md, has a title and date in its front matter, and shows up automatically in the Blog List component and the Blog Sidebar's Recent Posts / Categories / Tags widgets — no manual list-editing required.
